Donors' Den 2018

The Trialogue Business in Society Conference will include the popular Donors’ Den session, presented in partnership with Eskom Development Foundation, which will take place at 14:30 on Wednesday, 9 May.

Adapted from the internationally acclaimed Dragons’ Den television series, this interactive session gives representatives from three carefully-selected non-profit organisations (NPO) the unique opportunity to pitch a project to a panel of donors, and receive detailed feedback, empowering them with expert advice about how to hone their pitching and fundraising skills. Entries close on Friday, 30 March.

What's new on the Trialogue Knowledge Hub

The Trialogue Knowledge Hub is a freely available online body of knowledge for business and other role-players that invest in socio-economic development.
Some recent insights on the hub:

• [Financial Literacy] The vast majority of South Africans do not have enough money to support their lifelong financial journey -- at least three quarters of South African households are under financial pressure. 
   
• [Philanthropy] ‘Small givers’ are key contributors to African philanthropy. For example, two million Somalis abroad send home $1.4 billion, the equivalent to 23% of the country’s GDP, and higher than any amount of foreign aid.
   
• [Maths and Science] The WEF Global Competitiveness Report 2017/18 ranks the quality of our primary education 116th out of 137 countries. The quality of maths and science education is placed in 128th position.
   
• [School Leadership] A recent study revealed that teachers at the poorest schools across several provinces scored as low as 10% for English first additional language and 5% for maths. At least 18% of teachers were not in class during the days when schools were visited by two researchers. Education expert Jaco Deacon said the problem was due to poor leadership at schools.
